Apple recently began manufacturing Macintosh computers with Intel microprocessors. See "Apple to Use Intel Microprocessors Beginning in 2006" at
http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2005/jun/06intel.html
The USB Weatherlink for Macintosh (#6520) is not compatible with these new Macs with Intel processors. The incompatibility issue is with the USB driver.
Until a USB driver becomes available you should discourage customers from using the USB Weatherlink for Mac (#6520) on a Mac that has an Intel processor. Any other Mac OS X machine is OK.
Our Serial to USB adapter cable (#8434) also does not have a driver that is compatible with these new Intel Macs.
What should a customer do?
Their best bet is to purchase a USB to serial adapter cable that can supply a driver that will work with the new Intel based Macs and use it in conjunction with our serial Weatherlink (#6510SER). The problem here is that the serial Weatherlink is only available with WeatherLink software for Windows. In this case the customer will also need a copy of our Mac Weatherlink software. It appears the Keyspan has a beta driver for new Intel Macs. See
